Why I Believe Every Kitchen Needs a Pyrex Baking Set

As someone who lives alone, I don't think about meal presentation day to day, but I absolutely do when I host dinner parties. I never saw myself needing a Pyrex baking set in my kitchen, but when I found one on sale I decided to give it a chance—and I'm so glad I did.

This 19-Piece Pyrex Set Is Practically All I Need for Baking (and Leftovers!)

Pyrex as a brand is almost synonymous with glass food storage containers and bakeware, and as an ecommerce writer, I've definitely researched its products once or twice. I already knew they were high-quality, versatile pieces, but they seemed more like gifts for newlyweds or homeowners—not for a single Millennial like me. But when I walked into Bed Bath & Beyond and found a 19-piece set on sale, I had to try it out.

Pyrex offers a variety of sets with different combinations of bakeware and storage containers. The set I purchased includes a pie plate, two mixing bowls, three casserole dishes, two 1-cup bowls, and two 2-cup bowls along with lids for everything (except the pie plate). I honestly expected to use only one piece maybe once a week, but that's not what happened.

The 1- and 2-cup bowls work great for mixing seasonings or sauces, melting butter, and for serving condiments, while I use the casserole dishes several times a week for baking brownies, chicken, and other quick dinners. I also use the mixing bowls almost every day. The 2.5-quart option pairs nicely with my KitchenAid hand mixer so I can whip up cake batter, cream, and even mashed potatoes in a flash. Whenever I invite friends over for dinner, I use the mixing bowls to prep and serve salad all in the same container—no extra dishes required!

Speaking of dishes, the glass sets are dishwasher-safe, and from my experience they don't get water droplets or soap stuck on them regardless of the water pressure or dish soap used (unfortunately, I can't say the same for my pots and pans). Considering how frequently I use them, I often find myself hand-washing this set, which is also super easy thanks to the nonstick coating.

I haven't had the opportunity to use my new Pyrex set for transporting food to a potluck yet, but what I can say is that the lids have been life-savers for leftovers. I no longer need to shovel my lasagna into to-go containers or fuss with plastic wrap fitting around a dish. I simply take what I need, snap the lid, and place it in the fridge.

Overall, I've found the set's versatility and ease of use has encouraged me to experiment more in the kitchen. I'm not a five-star culinary wonder by any means, but my baked salmon and one-pan chicken and veggies certainly leave my guests with full and happy tummies. Naturally, I highly recommend the 19-piece bake-and-store set I have, but you can't go wrong with other Pyrex options either. No matter what you choose for your kitchen, you'll be pleased with a durable, functional set.
