This limited edition fi…ne ceramic sculpture is part of my "Forest Series". It evokes the feeling of the terrible loss of a forest fire. You can just feel the dry, crisp burnt edges and the ash, of the bark and leaves, while the center still has a glow of the fire, which isn't quite out. My sculptures start out thrown on the wheel. They are then stretched until the surface cracks and tears. After the first firing in the kiln, oxides are rubbed in to give the look of bark. Then the glazes are sprayed on in many shades to represent the feeling and mood I am striving for. They are then fired again in a hot cone 6 kiln. Sometimes this is done two, three or more times, until I feel the piece is perfect. This is a one of a kind piece and it is very unlikely that further copies of this item will be produced in the future. Ceramic lighthouse sculpture is a stoneware clay, high fire sculpture of a blue-black and white lighthouse. It was made in a rugged, rustic style. It is the front part, o…r half the part of ceramic lighthouse. The main building part is coloured in a dark turquoise-black colour, produced by a mix of high fire oxides. The front gate is down in the middle, incased in an off-white colour. Then comes an off-white waistband, below the windows walk part. This part is beautifully made with black, metal wire. Then the lantern room, with the lantern shown in the middle, made of black wire again in a spiral shape. This part has five windows in the off white colour on the outside and the blue-black on the inside Finally the cupola, the lantern room roof, with its lightning rod on top. 13"x10" Copper and Aluminum Wall Art - Day Of The Dead Flower Skull original design hand made in copper and aluminum. by Donna Passarelli After I was happy with my design… I transferred it to the copper sheet and sawed it out by hand with a jewelers saw and then did the piercings which were many. Then when I was finally finished with that I sanded and filed and polished till I was happy with it and gave it a brushed texture. Then I raised some of my piercings/cutouts to have the 3D look it has with the flowers and leaves raised. I then cut out the aluminum backing and gave it a black "brushed" texture and attached it to the copper skull and added a hanger on the top.
