Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice
Sure, Starbucks will keep us waiting a little longer until we can get our offical pumpkin spice latte fix, but other companies are battling to be the first to unofficially kick off the countdown to fall by releasing pumpkin spice goodies a little early. If you haven't had your first pumpkin spice sighting of the year, watch out, because chances are you'll spot pumpkin-spice-something on your next mall outing or supermarket stop.
If you're feeling more celebratory than spooked about this "too soon?!" news, then you're in luck. We're giving you a head's up on what to look for and expect to see in stores right now.
No more waiting for cooler weather. Enjoy pumpkin spice goodness even as you're pumping AC in the summer heat. No judgment here.
Or, if you prefer, give your recipes some pumpkin spice flair any day of the year with our homemade spice blend:
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 4 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
Let's start with the basics, shall we? And we don't mean basics as in anyone-who-loves-a-little-PSL. We wouldn't dare call you basic—especially as we're craving our own.
No, we're talking about the java, as grocers are already stocking pumpkin spice coffee blends. (Psst: We'll be trying this over ice until the temps dip below 70 degrees!)
And if you're going to have pumpkin spice coffee, might as well have some pumpkin spice cereal to go along with it. This was spotted in Canada, but it's only a matter of time before Kellogg's brings its fall flavors to American supermarket shelves.
You know, so you can have a well-balanced pumpkin breakfast...during summer.
Or, if you prefer, whip up some easy pumpkin dark chocolate muffins. This doesn't sound like it needs to wait for cool weather, does it? We could definitely support some early pumpkin muffin mixes in our midst.
Sometimes you just have to embrace the juxtaposition of flavors and seasons, like Peanut Butter & Co. is doing. They suggest toting your pumpkin spice peanut butter in your beach or pool tote. Fuel is a must to power through all those laps!
This one is only for the totally pumpkin-spiced obsessed. Drum roll please... Ready for it? Pumpkin Spice Cheddar Cheese. It sounds wild, but who knows? It could be the perfect way to ease into fall.
What's that smell? Oh, definitely not you, with head-to-toe spiced pumpkin cider body cream in August. Soak up all that the pumpkin spice craze has to offer by with this Bath & Body Works body cream or another PSM (pumpkin-scented moisturizer).
It may not be autumn yet, but pumpkin spice is (literally) in the air with this room spray.
