Decorating cupcakes is the easiest, most festive way to dress up a dessert for Halloween. You can use extra candy laying around your house and a little creativity to come up with something fun. Plus, decorating cupcakes is a perfect way to get your kids involved in the process. These monster cupcakes are super easy -- I used some snack cakes we had in our pantry along with a few easy-to-find candies to create creepy Monster Cupcakes that are sure to be a hit!

What you'll need:

1 batch cupcakes of your choice Double recipe of Butter Frosting Chocolate swirl snack cakes Round gummy candies Black licorice White gum, such as Chiclets, or mints, such as Tic Tacs

Make a double batch of frosting so you can pipe your frosting on thick to create your monsters' faces. White frosting works well for pale zombies, but feel free to color your frosting any shade you like. Use a large piping tip, such as a Wilton large 6B tip, to frost the cupcakes -- and swirl it on high! Carefully slice snack cakes in 1/4-inch pieces for the swirly zombie eyes. The chocolate coating on the cakes will crack off easily so be careful during this step. Or just remove the outer chocolate altogether.

Press the eyes onto the frosting faces atop the cupcakes.

Cut the round gummies in half and press them into the sides of the frosting like ears.

Cut black licorice into small pieces and attach as the zombies' noses. Finally, press the gum or mints into the frosting to create teeth. Use your creativity to make the monsters as scary or sweet as you want!
