Give Your Cake the Ultimate Smooth Edge (Without Fondant)

Nothing completes a showy dessert table quite like a perfectly frosted cake. Learn how to frost with ease, so you can admire your cake and eat it, too. Hint: it's all in the tools you use!

Don't let cake decorating intimidate you - it's easier than it looks. With a few of our tricks up your sleeve, you'll be a pro in no time.

You'll Need:

  • Cake Turner
  • Spatula
  • Bench Scraper

Frost Your Cake

Generously frost your cake with a spatula. Make sure level of frosting is even, and smooth top of cake well with a spatula.

Using a bench scraper, scrape along the side of the cake with an even motion, rotating the cake turner. Apply the same amount of pressure all the way around to reduce divots.

Once sides are smoothed, go over cake top once more with the spatula in long strokes. Once you're finished, proudly display it!
