Directions

  1. Combine raisins, orange juice, and powdered saffron; let stand 10 minutes. Add mixture, the 1/3 cup milk, water, vanilla, the 1/4 teaspoon almond extract, margarine or butter, egg, bread flour, granulated sugar, salt, yeast, and mixed candied fruits and peels to the bread machine pan according to manufacturer's directions for a 2-pound loaf. Select basic white bread cycle.

Glaze:

  1. For glaze, combine powdered sugar, the few drops almond extract, and enough milk to make drizzling consistency. Drizzle over cooled loaf. Makes 22 servings.
