Directions

  1. Add the first 8 ingredients to a 1-1/2- or 2-pound bread machine according to the manufacturer's directions. Select the dough cycle. When the cycle is complete, remove dough from machine. Punch dough down; cover and let rest 10 minutes.
  2. Grease an 11x7x1-1/2-inch baking pan, pat two-thirds of dough into pan. Combine preserves, softened margarine or butter, and almonds; spread over dough. On lightly floured surface, roll the remaining dough into an 11x6-inch rectangle. Cut lengthwise into 1/2-inch wide strips (12 strips). Weave strips in a lattice pattern over filling. Trim excess dough from strips. Cover and let rise in warm place about 1 hour or until nearly double. Bake in a 375 degree F oven for 20 to 25 minutes. (If necessary to prevent overbrowning, cover with foil the last 10 minutes of baking.) Serve warm.
