In a medium saucepan, cook potatoes, covered, in boiling water for 10 to 15 minutes or until tender. Drain. Mash with a potato masher or beat with an electric mixer on low speed.
Beat in sour cream and margarine or butter. If necessary, gradually beat in enough milk to make potatoes smooth and fluffy. If necessary, place potato mixture in saucepan; heat through. Just before serving, stir in the pecans, almonds, or walnuts. If desired, sprinkle with brown sugar. Makes 2 servings.
