Strawberry Mule


Winemaker Jayme Henderson turns a traditional mule on its head, replacing the usual vodka with a fruit-forward red wine.

  • 3 medium strawberries, quartered

  • ½ ounce fresh lime juice

  • Ice

  • 4 ounce medium-bodied, jammy red wine (Grenache, Malbec, or Zinfandel)

  • 2 ounce quality ginger beer

  • Sliced, fresh strawberries, for garnish

  • Lime wheel, for garnish


  1. In a mule mug, muddle strawberries with the lime juice.

  2. Add ice, red wine, and ginger beer. Stir well, adding more ice, as needed.

  3. Garnish with sliced strawberries and a lime wheel.
