Directions

To Prep:

  1. Divide ingredients between four 1-quart resealable plastic bags. Seal and freeze for up to 1 month.

To Make a Smoothie:

  1. In a blender, combine the contents of 1 bag with 1/2 to 1 cup almond milk or apple juice. Blend on high for 1 minute or until smooth. Serve immediately.

People reread recipe. First of all it was nice of the person sharing their recipe states. The recipe clearly states quanties then it states to separate all ingredients into 4quart Ziploc bags. To say "this is getting old" was rude. Reread recipe, quanties are there!

I'm going to make freezer bags on Sunday for the upcoming week for me and my husband, but I'm going to make it more nutritious. 1/4 c blueberries, 1/4 c cut-up strawberries, 1-2 slices beets (to make color red), 1/2 c baby kale, 1/2 c spinach, 1/4 c unsweetened cherries, 2 bananas, and 1/4 c raspberries (maybe). When I add my almond milk to my nutri-bullet, I'll throw in a scoop of protein powder. I will probably buy some of my fruit in freezer bags from the frozen food section since it's faster, easier and cheaper to throw together. I realize my "recipe" will probably make MORE than 2 servings, so I will have to tweak my recipe until I can figure out how many ingredients I need to make 2 servings to put in the freezer to last for a week for me and my husband. I'm going to make freezer bags for the upcoming week for me and my husband, but I'm going to make a healthier version. 1/4 cup blueberries, 1/4 c carrots, 1/2 cup kale, 1/2 cup spinach, 1-2 slices beets (turns color red), 2 bananas (to make it creamy), 1/4 c unsweetened cherries, maybe 1/4 c raspberries, and I will add a scoop of protein powder when I add my almond milk. I realize that this will probably make 4 servings instead of 2 servings, so I will have to tweak the recipe so I can create enough freezer bags on Sunday for the upcoming week for 2 people (14 bags).

Great idea! I'm going to implement this next shopping day. I always end up throwing away kale or greens because I don't make a smoothie every day and they get spoiled. So good time saver and budget saver. Thanks!

I took it that all measurements were in cups. i.e. 1 cup baby kale; 1 cup spinach; 1/2 cup strawberries, etc.

Baby Kale is real. If you have not heard about something new, Google it. I'm 74 and still learning new things. As for quantites, fill a quart baggy.

This is getting really OLD, BH&G! You keep publishing recipes without the quantities. I'm not about to guess what the amount of the ingredients are, because it may not turn out right!
