Slow Cooker Chicken and Sausage Gumbo

Directions

  1. For roux, in a medium skillet stir together flour and oil until smooth. Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat 5 to 7 minutes or until the color of peanut butter; let cool.
  2. Place broth in a 3-1/2- or 4-quart slow cooker. Whisk in roux. Add next 10 ingredients (through black pepper).
  3. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours. Skim off fat. Serve gumbo over hot cooked rice. If desired, drizzle with hot sauce.
