- In a pitcher combine first four ingredients (through simple syrup); stir in crushed ice. Cover and chill up to 24 hours.
- If desired, add a splash of pomegranate syrup to each chilled cocktail glass. Stir vodka mixture; pour into glasses. Garnish with pomegranate seeds and/or pear slices.

To make simple syrup, in a small saucepan bring 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water to boiling, stirring to dissolve sugar; cool. Store in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks. Makes about 3/4 cup.
