I was searching for a recipe my mom made when I was a small child. This is it. Awesome! Some things in life you never forget. Mom had a Better Homes and Gardens cookbook that was probably published in the 1950's. Thanks, BHG!

Haven't made it but was hoping to see an alternative recipe for over the stove rather than waiting 3 hours in a slow cooker.

I followed the recipe exactly as well. It only took me 1 1/2 hours to have it cooked to pudding consistency, so watch it carefully the first time or two you try it, until you get a feel for it. Tasted it, and decided it wasn't sweet enough. I doubled the sugar and it turned out very well. Entire family was pleased!

Followed the recipe exactly. It was an epic fail!!! Turned out very dry and I tried to salvage toward the end of cooking time by adding more liquid, all to no avail. It was as solid as cement. Had to practically chip the remains out of my crock pot (and yes, I cooked it on low; pre-cooked the rice--just as the recipe stated.) I love rice pudding, but this recipe is a disaster in waiting. Think I will use it to fill the mole holes in my yard!
