Directions

  1. Thaw pastry according to package directions; cut pastry into 4 squares. Place pastry squares on a large baking sheet. Use a fork to generously prick pastry squares. Bake in a 375 degree F oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown (pastry will shrink). Cool.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl combine greens; ham, chicken, or beef; sweet pepper strips; and cherry tomato wedges.
  3. For dressing, in a small mixing bowl stir together cream cheese, the 2 tablespoons milk, and mustard. Spoon half of the dressing over the greens mixture, tossing to coat. Stir the 1 tablespoon milk into the remaining dressing; set aside.
  4. Preheat broiler. Sprinkle 1 cup of the Gruyere cheese over the baked pastry squares. Broil 4 inches from heat about 1 minute or until cheese melts. Divide greens mixture evenly among pastry squares. Sprinkle with remaining Gruyere cheese. Broil for 1 to 2 minutes more or until cheese melts. Serve with remaining dressing. If desired, garnish with hard-cooked eggs. Makes 4 servings.
