Directions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl stir together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a small mixing bowl beat together melted butter, egg, water, and the 3 tablespoons sugar. Stir into dry ingredients until mixture forms a ball. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently 10 times. Divide dough into 10 portions.
  3. Prepare Berry Filling. Roll each portion to form a 6-inch circle. Divide filling evenly onto each circle. Moisten edges. Fold circles in half. Seal edges with the tines of a fork.
  4. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Prick tops two or three times with a fork to allow steam to escape. Brush with milk and sprinkle with coarse sugar. Bake in a 375 degrees oven for 18 to 20 minutes or until golden. Cool on a wire rack.
  5. If desired, drizzle with Powdered Sugar Icing.

Powdered Sugar Icing

Directions

  1. Stir together powdered sugar, vanilla, and enough milk (about 2 teaspoons) to make drizzling consistency.

  1. Stir together sugar and flour in a medium mixing bowl. Stir in berries and lemon peel. Makes 2 cups.
