Spaghetti with Beef and Mushroom Sauce
- In a large saucepan cook the ground beef and onion until meat is brown and onion is tender. Drain. Stir in the mushroom soup, tomato sauce, mushrooms (if desired), Italian seasoning, and pepper. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain. Serve sauce over hot spaghetti. If desired, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Makes 6 servings.

This is not quite the same as the one in my Better Homes & Gardens New Cook Book Limited Edition. The recipe I have calls for a can of condensed tomato soup, not tomato sauce, a half a teaspoon each of dried Italian seasoning and chili powder, 1/4 teaspoon each of black pepper and bottled hot pepper sauce (optional). And I am happy to say it's a huge hit in our household! It's thick, delicious, and wonderful! A fabulous comfort food!!! Five stars :)
