In a large skillet cook onion, sweet pepper, carrot, and garlic in hot oil about 5 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
Carefully stir in the fresh or undrained canned tomatoes, tomato paste, water, basil, sugar, salt, and thyme. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. If necessary, uncover and simmer for 5 to 10 minutes more or until of desired consistency, stirring constantly.
Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package directions. Drain. Immediately serve with sauce. Makes 3 servings.
