- In a medium saucepan combine half of the orange juice and the sugar. Cook and stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat. Stir in orange peel, the remaining orange juice, and lime juice.
- Transfer mixture to a 2-quart rectangular baking dish. Freeze, uncovered, about 2 hours or until frozen but grainy in texture, stirring mixture with a fork and scraping the frozen mixture from the sides of the dish every 30 minutes. Serve immediately or cover and continue to freeze.
- To serve, scrape granita with a fork. Spoon into dessert dishes.
