Preheat oven to 400 degree F. Grease twelve 2-1/2-inch muffin cups; set aside.
Prepare muffin mix according to package directions; fold in carrot, dried apples, and cranberries or cherries. Divide evenly among prepared muffin cups. Sprinkle with nuts.
Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes or until golden. Cool in pan on wire rack for 5 minutes; loosen edges and remove from muffin cups. Serve slightly warm or at room temperature. Makes 12 muffins.
