Ingredient Checklist


The day before:
  • In a small bowl combine yeast and the warm water. Let stand for 5 minutes. In a large bowl combine 2 1/2 cups of the flour and the salt. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture; add yeast mixture, oil, herb, and honey. Stir to combine. Turn out dough onto a floured surface. Knead in enough of the remaining flour to make a soft dough that is almost smooth and elastic (3 to 5 minutes total). Shape dough into a ball. Place in a lightly greased bowl, turning to grease surface of dough. Cover and let rise in a warm place until double in size (about 1 hour). Punch down dough and use as directed.

Different fresh herbs that complement the ingredients in the filling will add depth of flavor to the dough. Try thyme, basil, oregano, or cilantro.
