Maple-Apple Blondies

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 13x9-inch pan with foil, extending the foil over the edges of the pan. Lightly coat foil with cooking spray. In a medium saucepan melt 1 Tbsp. of the butter over medium heat. Add apples; cook about 12 minutes or until tender, stirring occasionally. Remove apples from saucepan and set aside.
  2. In the same saucepan melt the remaining butter over medium heat. Remove from heat. Stir in brown sugar, granulated sugar, and maple syrup until smooth. Stir in eggs until combined; stir in vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Stir in cooked apples. Spread batter evenly in the prepared pan.
  3. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until evenly browned and edges are puffed. Cool in pan on a wire rack. Spread Maple Icing over bars. Let stand until icing is set. Use edges of foil to lift uncut bars out of pan. Transfer to a cutting board. Cut into bars.

Layer bars between sheets of waxed paper in an airtight container; cover. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.

Directions

  1. In a small bowl stir together maple syrup, butter, and powdered sugar. Stir in enough milk (about 2 tablespoons) to make of a thin spreading consistency.
