Make-It-Mine Fruit Chutney

Directions

  1. In a 2-qt. saucepan heat butter over medium heat. Add onion, Chile Pepper, and garlic; cook 4 minutes or until onion is tender, stirring frequently. Stir in remaining ingredients.
  2. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, 15 to 20 minutes or until thickened and fruit is very soft. Cool. Store in refrigerator up to 3 days. Let stand at room temperature before serving.

CHILE PEPPER

1 jalapeno pepper, 1/2 of a poblano, Anaheim, or banana pepper

FRESH FRUIT

2 medium apples, pears, nectarines, or plums, chopped 2 medium peaches, chopped (or 1 1/2 cups frozen unsweetened peach slices, chopped) 3 medium apricots, chopped 1 cup pitted dark sweet cherries, chopped

DRIED FRUIT

cranberries, cherries, apricots or apples, snipped raisins, golden raisins

SWEET ADDITION

agave syrup, maple syrup, or honey

TANGY ADDITION

cider vinegar, white balsamic, vinegar, red wine vinegar, or lemon juice

HERB

rosemary, basil, thyme, chives, or parsley
