From the Test Kitchen

Frozen Margarita:

Prepare M-m-m-margaritas as directed through Step 2; pour half of the tequila mixture into a blender. With the motor running, add 3 cups ice cubes, one cube at a time, through the opening in the lid, blending until mixture is thick and slushy. Pour into salt-rimmed glasses. Repeat with the remaining tequila mixture and an additional 3 cups ice.

Mango Margaritas:

Dip the rims of the glasses in chili powder instead of kosher salt.* Prepare tequila mixture as directed in Step 2, except, if desired, replace Triple Sec with coconut-flavor rum. In a blender place 3 cups jarred refrigerated mango slices, drained. Cover and blend until smooth. Add to tequila mixture. Pour into glasses. If desired, garnish with mango wedges.

Strawberry-Banana Margaritas:

Dip the rims of the glasses in a mixture of finely shredded lime peel and kosher salt.* Prepare tequila mixture as directed in Step 2. In a blender combine one 16-ounce package frozen unsweetened strawberries, thawed, and 1 medium banana, sliced. Cover and blend until smooth. If desired, strain to remove seeds. Add blended fruit to tequila mixture. Pour into sugar-rimmed glasses. If desired, garnish with fresh strawberries.

Blackberry Margaritas:

Dip the rims of the glasses in coarse sugar instead of kosher salt.* Prepare tequila mixture as directed in Step 2, except, if desired, replace half of the Triple Sec with blackberry brandy. In a blender place one 16-ounce package frozen unsweetened blackberries, thawed. Cover and blend until smooth. If desired, strain to remove seeds. Add blended fruit to tequila mixture. Place ice cubes in glasses. Pour tequila mixture over ice cubes.

*Tip:

If you prefer, omit dipping the rims of the glasses.
