When you need a dessert to serve up for a celebration, there's nothing easier than a dump cake recipe. This pineapple dump cake recipe is a much easier version of classic hummingbird cake, but it still features the traditional combo of fresh fruit and spice cake.

Ingredients

  • Nonstick cooking spray

  • 2 20 ounce cans crushed pineapple in juice (undrained)

  • 2 bananas, sliced

  • ½ - 1 cup chopped pecans

  • 1 - 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon or apple pie spice

  • 1 2-layer-size package white or yellow cake mix

  • ¾ cup (12 tablespoons) butter, cut into small pieces

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat a 13x9-inch baking pan with cooking spray. Pour the crushed pineapple onto the bottom of the pan. Top with banana slices. Sprinkle with pecans, cinnamon, and cake mix. Evenly distribute the butter over the cake mix. Bake about 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted near the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool slightly. Serve warm with ice cream, additional pecans, and/or whipped cream, if desired.
