  • In a heavy medium saucepan combine the cocoa powder and brown sugar. Add the whipping cream; stir gently to combine (should be a thick, stiff mixture). Add the milk chocolate pieces, corn syrup, and butter. Heat and stir over low heat about 10 minutes or until butter melts and the mixture is glossy and smooth.

  • Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla. Cool completely. Spoon hot chocolate mix into glass container; cover. Store in the refrigerator. Include serving directions with gift.

TO SERVE:

For one serving, stir 1/3 cup drink mix into 1 cup hot milk. Chilled Hot Chocolate Drink Mix also makes a great fudgy ice cream topper.

MAKE-AHEAD DIRECTIONS:

Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
