Habanero Beef Tacos

Directions

  1. In a blender combine tomatoes, onion, peppers, broth, tomato paste, and cumin. Cover; blend until smooth.
  2. Place beef in a 31/2- or 4-qt. slow cooker. Pour pepper mixture over. Cover; cook on low 8 to 10 hours or on high 4 to 5 hours.
  3. Using a slotted spoon, remove beef from cooker. Skim fat from cooking liquid. Serve beef on tortillas. Drizzle with cooking liquid. Top with red onion, cilantro, sliced radishes, sour cream, pico de gallo, or queso fresco.

Because hot chile peppers, such as poblanos and habaneros, contain volatile oils that can burn your skin and eyes, avoid direct contact with chiles as much as possible. When working with chile peppers, wear plastic or rubber gloves. If your bare hands do touch the chile peppers, wash your hands well with soap and water.
