Create a cookie recipe that looks like sushi using thinly sliced fruits atop sugar cookies. They're a cute dessert guaranteed to impress.

  • Preheat oven to 325°F. In a large mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add sugar. Beat until combined, scraping bowl occasionally. Beat in milk and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in any remaining flour. Gather dough into a smooth ball (dough may be crumbly at first but will come together with gently kneading).

  • On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out to 1/4-inch thick. Cut dough using a 3-inch round cookie cutter. Use a 3/4- to 1-inch round cookie cutter to cut smaller circles from the centers of dough rounds to create doughnut shapes. Reroll scraps. Arrange 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until edges are very lightly browned. Cool on cookie sheets for 2 minutes. Carefully transfer to a wire rack; cool.

  • Meanwhile, in a medium bowl beat cream cheese with a mixer on medium until smooth. Add whipped topping and beat until fluffy and smooth. Transfer mixture to a gallon-size resealable plastic bag and snip the corner. Pipe cream cheese mixture onto each cookie. Carefully arrange prepared fruit over the piped topping. If desired, drizzle with warmed jam. Sprinkle with poppy seeds.
