Heat a large skillet over medium heat (if using turkey, coat skillet with cooking spray before heating). Add ground meat and, if desired, parsley, onion powder, and garlic powder. Cook until meat is brown, using a wooden spoon to break up meat as it cooks. Drain off fat. Spread in a shallow baking pan to cool quickly.
Transfer meat to a 1-quart freezer container or bag (squeeze air from bag); seal and freeze for up to 1 month. To use, thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Use as directed in recipes.
