Easy Fudge Sauce

1-1/2 cups sauce


  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ cup butter

  • ½ cup milk or half-and-half

  • 2 teaspoon vanilla, instant coffee crystals, or espresso powder


  1. In a small bowl mix together the brown sugar and cocoa powder; set aside.

  2. In a small heavy saucepan melt butter with milk. Cook and stir over medium heat for 5 to 6 minutes, just until mixture bubbles around side of pan. Add sugar-cocoa mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, 1 to 2 minutes, until sugar is dissolved and sauce is smooth and slightly thickened.

  3. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla or coffee crystals. Serve at once.


Cover and refrigerate sauce up to 1 week. To warm the sauce, place in microwave-safe measuring cup. Heat on 100% power (high) for 15 seconds; stir. Repeat until heated through.
