A favorite among kids and adults, there's nothing more refreshing on a hot afternoon than a glass of strawberry lemonade. Try the make-ahead recipe directions to prepare for potlucks and barbecues.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup sugar

  • 4 cup water

  • 2 cup fresh strawberries, hulled

  • 1 tablespoon finely shredded lemon peel

  • 1 cup lemon juice (4 to 5 lemons)

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan combine 1 cup of the sugar and 1 cup of the water; cook and stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Set aside to cool.

  2. In a blender combine remaining 3 cups water, 1/2 cup sugar, and the strawberries; process until smooth. Transfer to a 2-quart pitcher; add cooled syrup, lemon peel, and lemon juice. Stir to combine. Fill pitcher with crushed ice. Makes 8, 8-oz. servings.

Tips

Prepare lemonade but do not add ice. Cover and chill up to 8 hours. Add ice and serve.

Add Vodka

Add 2 cups vodka to the pitcher or 1/4 cup vodka to each serving.
