Substituted marjoram for the tarragon & finished with flat leaf parsley & fresh torn basil leaves the last five minutes!

I added pearl barley for a thicker soup!

This looks delicious. The only thing I would suggest is using fresh carrots. Those 'baby' carrots you find in the grocery are merely shaved down for convenience but in my experience they always taste musty. The closer to the farm the better.

The recipe I am looking at does have the ounces. I would add potatoes.

This is the second recipe that looks great but has the ounces left out of the recipe. Is ist a 28 oz can or 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes? Beef broth? I really wasnted to make this this morning!

I clicked on "Voted best slow-cooker soup ever!" and these reviews seems to say other wise.  The picture does make me hungry though!

They are the regular 14.5 oz cans. I made this today and I wanted to do it in a 6 qt slow cooker so I multiplied everything by 1.5. and I just used 2 cans of diced tomatoes, 2 bags of frozen pearl onions, 1.5 lbs of meat, and 2 "cans" of beef broth (I used Better Than Bouillon)....I put it all together in the slow cooker, then realized I needed it done in an two hours, so I threw it in a pressure cooker and it worked. I thought it tasted good! And it's a great low carb recipe.
