If using loose mulling spice blend, place spices in the center of a double-thick 5-inch square of 100-percent-cotton cheesecloth. Bring together the corners of the cheesecloth and tie with clean string. In a large saucepan, combine spice bag(s) and apple juice. Bring to boiling. Stir in pear, papaya, and cranberries. Return mixture to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer about 10 minutes or until fruit is tender.
Drain fruit, reserving cooking liquid for the Spiced Cream. Cool fruit slightly. Divide fruit among individual dishes. Top with Spiced Cream and sprinkle with nutmeg. Serve warm. Makes 8 servings.
In a small bowl, stir together cream cheese,powdered sugar; sour cream; and whipping cream. Stir in enough of the reserved cooking liquid for cream to reach desired consistency.
