  1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Cut bread into 1/2-inch-thick slices. Trim off crusts. Brush both sides of bread with melted butter; cut into 2-inch squares. Place on a baking sheet. Bake about 10 minutes or until lightly toasted, turning once.
  2. Meanwhile, in a mixing bowl combine chopped pear, brown sugar, lime juice, cinnamon, and allspice.
  3. Top each bread square with a piece of cheese, a little pear mixture, and a few nuts; press lightly to secure nuts on top. Broil 4 to 5 inches from heat for 2 to 3 minutes or until cheese begins to melt and nuts are lightly toasted. Makes 24 appetizers.
