Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees . Beat margarine or butter in large bowl with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add the brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, and nutmeg. Beat till combined. Beat in egg and vanilla till combined. Beat in the cornmeal, almonds, and as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Stir in remaining flour.
  2. Lightly grease two cookie sheets. Shape dough into forty 1-inch balls; place 2 inches apart on prepared cookie sheets. Flatten cookies with fork dipped in sugar.
  3. Bake in preheated oven about 9 minutes till lightly browned. Transfer cookies to wire racks and cool.
