  • In a small saucepan heat baking pieces and 2 teaspoons shortening over low heat, stirring until mixture is melted and smooth.

  • In a small microwave-safe bowl combine white baking chocolate and 1 teaspoon shortening. Microwave, uncovered, on 50 percent power (medium) for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or until chocolate melts and mixture is smooth, stirring every 30 seconds.

  • Place white chocolate mixture in a small resealable plastic bag; snip a small hole in one corner. Spread melted cherry mixture onto cookies. Pipe small dots or lines of the white chocolate mixture on top of the cherry mixture. Drag a knife or toothpick through the white chocolate mixture to marble it slightly.

  • Let stand at room temperature for 1 hour or chill to set.
