Caramel Frosting

When dessert needs to be a little extra sweet or indulgent, add this caramel frosting recipe. It's delish on chocolate cake, white cake, and especially cakes studded with candy bits.

  • ¾ cup butter, softened

  • 8 cup powdered sugar

  • ½ cup purchased caramel sauce

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 4 - 5 tablespoon milk


  1. In a large mixing bowl beat softened butter with an electric mixer on medium speed 30 seconds. Gradually add 2 cups of powdered sugar, beating well. Slowly beat in the purchased caramel sauce and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Gradually beat in 3 additional cups powdered sugar. Beat in enough milk to make of piping consistency.
