Good flavor and so pretty! I cut back on sugar throughout and it was still definitely sweet enough. Browned/burned suddenly so keep a close eye last few min. Much soggier than I’d expected, that’s the only thing I didn’t like about this recipe.
Beautiful presentation! I wanted to make it according to the recipe, but I couldn’t justify All. That. Sugar. So I cut the powdered sugar in half and didn’t add sugar to the egg mixture. It was still fabulous and no one could tell it was missing anything. I also added 1/2 tsp Almond extract (bec I love the flavor). I love the suggestion to cut the bread into chunks, and I’m going to try an apple-and-white-raisin version next.
OMG this recipe is amazing. Ive made it sooo many times and get rave reviews. Ive always used marscapone and i add lemon zest to the maracapone mixture. The first time i made it i dis it exactly as directed. It was a beautiful presentation. The nezt time i cut the bread into chunks and did a layer of bread then did a layer of the cheese mixture and topped with remaining bread. Still amazing and less work lol. Reheats really well . amazing dish
My daughter made this recipe for Christmas brunch. It looked elegant and tasted amazing. The recipe says to prepare and chill overnight, but with small children, she forgot to prepare it in advance. She prepared it Christmas morning and popped it directly into the oven with great results! I would add that it is a convenience to prepare in advance, but definitely not necessary.
Even eating it leftover it was unbelievable!
