Stir together flour and salt. In a large mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for seconds. Add brown sugar and vanilla; beat until fluffy. Add egg yolks; beat until well combined. Stir flour mixture into brown sugar mixture, mixing well.
Pat the dough evenly in an ungreased 15x10x1-inch baking pan. Brush top with beaten egg white. Combine granulated sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle evenly over top. Sprinkle almonds over all.
Bake in a 350 degree F oven 15 to 18 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut into 1-1/2-inch diamonds while warm. Cool in pan. Remove from pan with spatula. Makes 48 cookies.
