Balsamic Syrup

Directions

  1. In a 10-inch skillet bring 2 cups pure balsamic vinegar to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, for 25 to 30 minutes or until slightly thickened and reduced to 1/2 cup. Cool to room temperature (syrup will thicken more as it cools). Store at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

From the Test Kitchen

Uses

Drizzle over salads, fruit, roasted pork or chicken, asparagus, and potatoes. Or drizzle a design on a plate before adding the food.

If using aged balsamic vinegar, the syrup will be thicker, sweeter, and may not need to cook as long. Start checking the consistency after simmering for 15 minutes.
