Apple and Cranberry Crisp

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. In a deep 10-inch ovengoing skillet or a 2-quart rectangular baking dish combine apples, cranberries, and apple juice. In a small bowl stir together granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon apple pie spice. Sprinkle over fruit mixture; toss gently to coat.
  2. For topping, in a medium bowl stir together oats, brown sugar, flour, and 1/2 teaspoon apple pie spice. Using a pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle topping over fruit mixture.
  3. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until apples are tender. Serve warm.

This looks and sounds delicious! Placing this recipe, and many others in this category under the title of "Healthy Desserts" is quite misleading. When one looks at the nutritional count of a single serving, who would consider 51 grams of sugar to be healthy?
