Bring cheese and margarine or butter to room temperature. Meanwhile, cover cherries with boiling water and let stand 10 minutes. Drain well; pat cherries dry with paper towels and set aside.
In a food processor bowl place cheese, margarine or butter, mayonnaise or salad dressing, and mustard. Cover and process until combined. Stir in cherries and green onions; cover and refrigerate up to 3 days. Serve with crackers.
