  • In a 3 1/2- or 4-quart slow cooker combine hoisin sauce, the water, garlic, and crushed red pepper. Add mushrooms, stirring to coat.

I have made these several times, and EVERYONE has loved them. At one party I brought them to, they were gone in mere moments! I am bringing them tomorrow for our family Easter get-together, and I KNOW they will be enjoyed. Sometimes I even make extra so that my son and I can enjoy them later!

I have made these for several events and everyone loves them. The only thing that I do different is that I add sweet onions to. them.

I made these twice - once for a family get together and once for friends. They were a big hit with everyone (with everyone that likes mushrooms, lol)! I love them! I received several requests for the recipe. I'm guessing that the mushrooms the others used weren't the right mushrooms?? I used mini bellas and made sure the caps were closed. If the caps are open, it lets too much moisture into the mushroom.

Sorry but these were bad - really, really bad. I love mushrooms and I love hoisin but for whatever reason these were one of the worst dishes I've made in a while. I meant them to be a side for some lettuce wraps but they were not good. We threw the whole dish out, something we very rarely do (most things can be saved but not these). For those that come after me, maybe reduce the water to 1 - 2 Tbsp? Mushrooms release a lot of water on their own.

I really, really, really wanted to like these. But I didn't. I like mushrooms, but maybe I don't like hoisin sauce. Or maybe I don't like mushrooms with hoisin sauce. My husband didn't it either. I'd never used hoisin sauce before (or if I have it's been an eternity) so I tasted it when I opened the jar and found it to be much like a sweet BBQ sauce. Yes, the house smelled good while these cooked in the crock pot, but the taste just wasn't for us. I'm deleting this recipe from my computer ASAP. I don't even want to accidentally make it again.
