Ingredients 6 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons olive oil 2 large onions, halved and thinly sliced 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 12 ounces deli roast beef, thinly sliced 6 6-inch hoagie rolls, split and halved crosswise 6 ounces thinly sliced provolone cheese 8 ounces cheese spread (chive-and-onion, garlic-and-herb, or plain) Directions In a 12-inch skillet heat 2 Tbsp. of the butter and the olive oil over medium. Add onions, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until very tender and starting to brown, about 15 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F. Arrange roll bottoms in a 13x9-inch baking pan or 3-qt. rectangular baking dish. Layer roll bottoms with roast beef, onions, and cheese. Spread cut sides of roll tops with cream cheese. Add roll tops to sandwiches. Melt the remaining ¼ cup butter. Drizzle over rolls. Cover with foil. Bake 15 minutes.
