Splish, splash—it's a birthday bash! We're cordially inviting you to get inspired with this nautical-theme children's party! This easy summer birthay party idea is perfect for kids of all ages.
Decking out the table with ocean-theme snacks was a hit! Candy skewers, frosted "blue coral" popcorn, and pretzel "driftwood" incorporated the theme.
Make the Popcorn: Add two drops of blue gel food coloring to melted white chocolate, and coat the cooked popcorn. For even color, shake chocolate and popcorn together in a paper bag. Let cool on a baking sheet and serve.
A party cake is the centerpiece that anchors a theme. Our Kitchen Table made this fun custom beach party cake for the bash to incorporate Charlie's request for sharks and whales. We're a big fan of using graham cracker crust to imitate sand.
It's not a party without punch. For extra sparkle, add edible gold sprinkles.
Make the Punch: In a large punch bowl combine 1 package unsweetened berry drink mix, 2 liters lemon-lime soda, and 64 ounces white cranberry juice. Add up to 1 cup white sugar, depending on how sweet you want it. Finish with 9 scoops vanilla ice cream.
Incorporate the ocean into the party with a sweet DIY treat.
Make the Favors: Fill a clear bag halfway with blue jelly beans. Add fish crackers, placing them so they're visible through the bag. Tie the bag closed with nautical ribbon.
Adding customized ocean-friendly phrases to galvanized buckets was so easy, and it added the perfect touch to the snack table. Use stickers or vinyl sheets to attach letters. Stiack them on a wooden crate for added interest.
Styling Tip: Use different-size buckets and food pedestals to add depth to your table.
Incorporate different hues of blue to tie the theme to the decor. Add festive word art signs as both party decor and photo booth props.
Styling Hack on a Budget: Use clear vases from the dollar store and fill with blue jelly beans for an extra pop of color.
The kids had a whale of a time with these beach-theme photo props.
Make the Whale Photo Prop: Trace whale body onto the backside of dark blue foam board and cut out. Paint the whale's belly using light blue paint. Cut out an eye from white and black cardstock, and adhere with double-stick tape. Draw a water spout freehand onto light blue cardstock, then cut out and adhere to the backside of the foam board using double-stick tape.
The kids are sure to love this shark! Be sure to keep the opening large enough to capture the funny faces!
Make the Shark Mouth Photo Prop: Trace shark head and mouth on the backside of a foam board and cut out. Paint the shark using light blue paint. Once the paint is dry, outline the shark with dark blue permanent marker. Cut out eyes from white and black cardstock, and adhere with double-stick tape. Create teeth by cutting out triangle shapes from white cardstock and adhere to the backside of the foam board with double-stick tape.
Get inspired with this super-fun kids lounge area, where they can cool off, apply sunscreen, or snap a quick photo. Style it up with blue side tables and an inflatable chair. A scalloped shower curtain served as the backdrop.
