We Tried Starbucks' New Cloud Macchiato—Here Are Our Thoughts
This new permanent menu item is just as frothy and dreamy as it was in your imagination.
And on Tuesday, Starbucks didn’t disappoint—releasing two new permanent menu items. The lineup explains why the brand was posting so many clouds as they’re aptly called the Cloud Macchiatos.
The drinks are available in caramel and cinnamon flavors and feature a “cloud” of cold milk foam that’s topped with espresso and finished with its respective flavoring. Available iced or hot to enjoy year-round.
In the sake of investigative journalism, I drove to my nearest Starbucks and ordered both flavors (iced) to taste test. My thoughts? I love a good macchiato, and these are definitely that. The cold milk foam is frothy and light, and the caramel and cinnamon flavors are both options I would order again.
Surprisingly, as someone who isn’t too fond of caramel, I liked that one the best. I found the cinnamon flavor to remind me a bit too much of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal (which isn’t necessarily a negative thing either).
If you’re someone who doesn’t like sweetened coffee, the Cloud Macchiatos probably won’t be your new go-to order, they're quite sweet (there are 29 grams of sugar in a (hot) tall Cinnamon Cloud Macchiato and 28 grams in the caramel option). But if you’re like me, the new Cloud Macchiatos will be a refreshing new favorite to carry you into spring.
