Buy It: Furbo Dog Camera, $134 (originally $249)
A few years ago, my dad gifted my family the Furbo Dog Camera to ensure we could keep tabs on our family dog, Rufus, at all times. Back then, Rufus was an 11-year-old pug with a list of health issues, so keeping an eye on him wasn’t such a bad idea. The camera was simple to set up using the included three-step instructions, and it gave us peace of mind while we were at work or school. After downloading the free Furbo app to our smartphones and registering the device, we were able to hear our dog and talk to him using the two-way audio. It even allowed us to toss him a few treats throughout the day to let him know we were thinking of him, which is by far one of my favorite features. The Furbo came with a small pack of treats, but any bite-size kibble will do.
Rufus wasn’t an avid barker, but when he did bark it was his way of letting us know someone was at the door. Since Furbo sends bark alert notifications whenever your dog “speaks,” it was a clever way of knowing if someone was at the door when we weren’t home (to this day, my parents still don’t have a video doorbell). The 160-degree livestream was enough to show almost our entire living room at one time, and the device’s lightweight design was easy for us to move from room to room if Rufus ever decided to claim a new favorite spot in the house. Accidents were inevitable as he aged, but thanks to the clear HD video and built-in night vision on the camera we were able to see exactly where he made the mess and clean it immediately when we got home without having to search for the source of the smell or discover it way later.
Not only did this pet camera put our minds at ease while we were away, but it also brought joy to my family and our dog, and it gave us a ton of funny memories to look back on (literally, you can take photos with the camera, too, so you can document all of the funny—or not so funny—things you catch your dog doing while he’s home alone). After Rufus passed away at age 13, my dad re-gifted the Furbo to another family who loves it just as much as we did. Now that I’ve moved out of my family’s house and have two dogs and cats of my own, I’m excited to take advantage of this unbeatable Prime Day price (and browse thousands of other deals) and order the Furbo pet camera to see what my animals are up to while my husband and I are out.
