Love the crunch and flavor of fried foods—but not the fat and calories that come along with them? Then the air fryer (which some have declared as "the next Instant Pot or the "greatest thing since the George Foreman Grill") might just be your supper savior. And now's the perfect time to stock up: Several retailers are slashing costs for Black Friday.

Admittedly, the moniker is a bit misleading. The tool is more akin to a countertop convection oven, circulating high heat in a small container to achieve a crunchy coating, than a fryer that utilizes bubbly oil. The results fall somewhere between oven-baking and deep-frying in terms of texture and taste, and Better Homes & Gardens® Test Kitchen staff and food editors rave about the results with just a tablespoon or less of added fat.
