Get a Professional Look with a Range Hood
Take meal prep to the pro level with a new range hood. Here's what to consider before you buy.
[MUSIC]. Make a distinct style statement while maintaining functionality with the range hood. Here are three things to look for when shopping. First, consider how much power the fan needs, which is measured in cubic feet per minute, or CFM. A professional style, six burner range, needs a hood with a higher CFM than a standard 30 inch cook top. At minimum- Calculate one CFM per one hundred BTUs in the range. Next, consider placement and size. It's best to install standard hoods, 18 to 24 inches above the cooking surface. Add a few inches if you have a higher power hood. The hood should be at least as wide as the range, or best case scenario. Three inches wider on each side. Buy the range first, and then the hood. Last, consider style and price. Under-cabinet hoods are the least expensive. Expect to pay more for ceiling-mounted chimney hoods, wall-mounted chimney hoods or custom built-ins. Say goodbye to cooking smells and smoke, and say hello to style with a new range hood.
