Set yourself up for a better night of sleep with this easy-to-make linen spray.
You might think that vodka and your bedsheets don't mix, but an inexpensive bottle can actually be a great cleaner. Another benefit of homemade products is that you know exactly what you're putting in them--no chemicals you can't pronounce here! Mix up a batch of this lavender-scented spray and use it to freshen up bed linens and towels. The soothing scent of lavender will also help you drift off to dreamland.
Pour vodka and water into a spray bottle in a 1:1 ratio. Here, we used 1/2 cup of each. Always use a clean, empty bottle. Do not reuse a spray bottle that once held other chemicals. Leftover residue can cause a reaction.
Add 30-40 drops lavender essential oils to your bottle and swish around to distribute. If you know that you are sensitive to fragrance, use less. And if you don't like the smell of lavender, feel free to try a different essential oil, like bergamont, lemon, peppermint, tea tree, or eucalyptus.
Test your cleaner on a small corner of your sheets or towels first to make sure no discoloration occurs. Give your sheets a spritz every time you make your bed to freshen them up. As a bonus, if you use this spray on your pillows before bed, the smell of lavender will help soothe you to sleep. You can also use it to refresh towels. It's especially useful for towels that have been sitting in a linen closet, such as those for a guest bedroom. Sweet dreams!
