What You'll Need

  • Heart-shape cookie cutter
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Non-stick foil
  • Baking tray
  • Assorted hard candies
  • Sprinkles or small candies

Step 1: Prepare Heart Molds

Start this edible Valentine project by creating heart-shaped molds for each lollipop you want to make. To make the mold, place a heart-shape cookie cutter on top of a pop stick on a 5-inch piece of nonstick foil, positioning the stick so it sits about halfway inside the heart. Wrap the foil up and around the sides of the cookie cutter so the foil forms the exact shape of the cutter (don't wrap the foil over or inside the cutter, or you won't be able to remove it). Transfer the mold to the baking sheet and remove the cookie cutter; repeat this process with the same cookie cutter for each pop you want to make.

Step 2: Add Candies

Once you've created the desired number of pop molds, lay them flat on a baking sheet; depending on the size of your molds, you may need to bake the pops in several batches. Place small hard candies in each of the mold shapes; we used 8 candies per pop, but the number of candies you'll need will vary based on the size of your molds. Bake the pops at 350°F for 10 minutes (or until the candies are entirely melted).

Step 3: Decorate!

Immediately after the melted pops come out of the oven, sprinkle with your favorite decorative candies to add a festive touch. Holiday sprinkles or nonpareils are perfect for decorating these adorable Valentine pops!

Step 4: Remove Foil and Enjoy

When the decorated pops have cooled completely, carefully remove the foil. Peel the foil slowly from the candy surface, and use a sharp knife to remove any small foil pieces that may stick behind. These pops are a great make-ahead Valentine's day gift; wrap them in plastic and store at room temperature for up to 2 days. To give individual pops as an edible Valentine gift, slide a food-safe clear gift bag and over the top of each pop and secure with a pretty ribbon.
